The investment of 28 million euros represents an increase of 79.5% with respect to the previous financial year

Ports de la Generalitat foresees an investment of 28 million euros in developments that will take place in ports in Gerona, Barcelona and Tarragona during 2008, with an increase of 79.5% with respect to investments during 2007.

These 28 m euros will be destined to several projects to be carried out in the three port areas: Zona Portuāria Nord (21.3 million euros); Zona Portuāria Centre (1.3 million euros) and Zona Portuāria Sud (2.8 million euros). A further 2 million euros will be invested in the implementation of good environmental practice in ports

Developments involving large investments in 2008

  • Construction of an exterior sea wall in Blanes which has improved the functions and the shelter of the port.

  • Extension of the commercial sector and the remodelling of the sea wall in the Vilanova i la Geltrú port in order to create a future logistics activity area for port support.

  • Reinforcement of the sea wall at the port of Llanįā with the construction of a new breakwater.

  • Implementation of good environmental practice at the fish market. Ports where fish markets are affected will be: el Port de la Selva, Llanįā, l'Escala, Palamós, Blanes, Arenys de Mar, l'Ametlla de Mar, Sant Carles de la Rāpita and les Cases d'Alcanar.

  • Development of the public sailing area at the port of Sant Feliu de Guíxols to restructure the port's public sailing area.

  • Construction of a fish market at the port of Deltebre.
