The Network will initially be comprised of 7 museums, although other museums may be added in the future

The Department of Culture and Media and the directors of various ethnological museums in Catalonia have signed an agreement to form the Museum Network for the Promotion of the Ethnological Heritage of Catalonia. This is one of the first activities to be carried out by the Catalonia Museum Plan (Pla de Museus de Catalunya). As part of this Plan, each of the national museums will be responsible for thematic regional networks, which will complement the activities and/or collections at the museum's central location.

The Museum Network for the Promotion of the Ethnological Heritage of Catalonia will initially include 7 museums, although it is expected that other museums will be added in the future.

In accordance with the agreement, the Department will draw up measures that protect the patrimony, dissemination, creation and regional promotion of the ethnological heritage housed in the Network's museums by means of economic aid.
