ResolvedAward of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia-Fulbright postdoctoral grants (BFUL 2009)

PLEASE NOTE: The stays must commence on acceptance of the grant and by March 31, 2010 at the latest. This errata will appear in the Official Gazette of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (DOGC) in the near future.

On the form, the starting date must be between September 1 and December 31, 2009. Applicants may enter the actual dates in point 3 of the appendix of the application form (Research Project), and beneficiaries subsequently in the document of acceptance.

Object:
To award postdoctoral grants for research stays universities or specialised research centres in the United States of America. These grants are framed within the collaboration agreement signed between the DIUE and the Fulbright Commission, which establishes the BFUL programme.

All established research areas in the Catalan University setting.

Applicants:
Researchers who meet the following requirements at the time of acceptance may apply for the grants of this call:
a) Hold the qualification of doctor, obtained after January 1, 2001 (the date the PhD was obtained is understood to be that on which the thesis was defended and approved), or else after January 1, 1999, if the applicants can justify, during this period, maternal leave, that they have had minors of less than six years old under their care, as well as people with physical, psychic or sensorial disability, or people aged above sixty-five that depend on the beneficiary and require special dedication.
b) Have Spanish nationality, as provided for by the agreement of October 27, 1994, signed between the Kingdom of Spain and the United States of America in matters of educational, cultural and scientific cooperation.
c) Hold the qualification of doctor from a Catalan university.
d) Be a resident in Catalonia on submitting the application.
e) Be fluent in English.

Duration:
The grants have a minimum duration of six months and maximum of twelve months and cannot be renewed. The stays must begin before September 1 and December 31, 2009.

Amount:
The gross monthly amount will be 2,950 American dollars plus a single complementary amount of aid of 4,400 American dolars for installation, travel and research expenses. The grant also includes health and accident insurance with a maximum coverage of 100,000 American dollars.

Submittal deadline:
The term for the submittal of applications is thirty calendar as of the day after the publication of this announcement in the DOGC.

Place of submittal:
The standard application form and the rules may be obtained from the offices of the AGAUR (Via Laietana, 28, 2a planta, 08003 Barcelona) and through its website and through that of the CUR (http://www.gencat.cat/diue/ambits/ur) and of the Fulbright Commission or its website (http://www.fulbright.es).
In the event of any discrepancy or difference between the forms sent by e-mail and paper, the paper version submitted to the AGAUR registry will always prevail. The forms must be submitted on paper within the deadline established to be eligible for the call for applications.
The candidates can only submit one application to this announcement.

Decision:
The maximum legal term for resolution is six months as of the day following the date for submittal of applications. Once this term has elapsed without an express resolution, the application will be deemed to have been rejected through administrative silence.

Documentation:
Two confidential reference reports, in a closed and signed envelope, must be submitted on the standard form that comes with the application, duly completed. These reports must be in English.
