Research Programme in companies

The company research programme aims to bring the creation of knowledge with the creation of new tools closer to new products that improve quality and social welfare. In other words, the main objective is to promote knowledge from the moment of its creation until its application.

If we compare Catalonia to other EU countries where technological innovation is more present, we can see that there is a shortage of research personnel in the business sector. In 2003, only 38.1% of investigators were in companies, whereas the EU figure was 50%.

Consequently, the Company Research Programme, by means of different instruments, seeks to promote both academic and business aspects in the training of new investigators. Moreover, the aim is to promote the hiring of investigators by companies.

Developed actions

The following actions have been developed to accomplish the proposed objectives:

  • Doctorate working days

    Immersion-type training courses for PhD students from all disciplines to get them to think about their professional future, make them discover the skills and capacities they have acquired during the PhD and teach them to know how to use them outside the academic setting.

  • Programa Talent Empresa (TEM-DGR)

    Framed within the research career, it provides economic aid on a co-funding-based system to promote the recruitment of research personnel by companies and foster the introduction of business aspects into the training of new researchers.

    This programme comprises two modalities:

    - Modality A: new research personnel in the predoctorate stage
    Economic aid allocated to organisations from the business sector based in Catalonia to develop R&D projects that foster the recruitment of new/predoctorate research personnel.
