he Catalan healthcare system is defined by its commitment to guarantee universal healthcare.
People without sufficient financial resources have the right to receive healthcare assistance, provided they meet the following requirements:
- They must be registered with a town hall in Catalonia.
- They must have annual income from any source that is less than or equal to the minimum interprofessional salary or, if they exceed this limit, the result of dividing their annual income by the number of minors or disabled persons they are responsible for must be lower than or equal to half the minimum interprofessional salary.
- They must not have access to public healthcare protection in any other way.
How to apply
You will have to submit the following documents to the primary healthcare center (CAP) that corresponds to you based on your home address:
- A certificate proving you are registered with your municipality.
- For applicants over the age of 14, a photocopy of a Spanish Identity Card (DNI) or passport.
- For minors, a photocopy of the family register (llibre de família).
- A document from the Social Security if you have a Social Security number or are registered with the Social Security system.
- A tax return from the previous fiscal year.
- To claim a disability of more than 33%, you must submit a certificate from the competent organization (Institut Català d'Assistència i Serveis Socials, ICASS) stating that you have such a disability.
