CatSalut has the function of an insurance company of the public health system of the Generalitat de Catalunya. It holds responsability for the procurement of health services, with the aim of meeting the objectives set by the Ministry of Health and Social Security.

On the other hand, health service suppliers have the function fo providing health care services to the citizens.
