  Transplants
In Catalonia, there are approximately 1000 people waiting for a transplant, which in some cases is the only hope they have of continuing living.

hrough the Catalan Transplant Organisation (OCATT) in the Health Area, the CatSalut plans, organises and coordinates activities related to the extraction, preservation, distribution, transplant and exchange of organs and tissues to be used for therapeutic purposes.

As well as solid organs (kidneys, liver, heart, lungs and pancreas), tissue transplant such as bone, skin, heart valve, blood vessels, cornea and haemopoyesis progenitor cells can also be carried out.

The CTA promotes organ and tissue donation in Catalonia.

A number of statistics and publications (reports, studies, articles, recommendations, etc.) distributed to
professionals are produced based on the data collected on the transplants carried out.
