Hospital Transplantation Coordinators
Hospital transplant coordinators are key specialists who ensure the organisational model for transplantations runs smoothly. At each centre and for each reference area, the coordinator is responsible for procuring as many organs and tissue as possible, guaranteeing their quality and evaluating the entire process.

Each hospital in Catalonia authorised by the Ministry of Health and Social Security to procure and/or transplant organs and tissue has a coordinator who is a specialist doctor. The doctor coordinates these activities on either a full- or part-time basis, depending on the number of transplantation programmes the centre has and the volume of activity. At hospitals with considerable transplantation activity, the coordinator has a team of doctors and nurses.

The coordinator is supervised by the hospital's medical management, regardless of the transplant programmes the centre may have.
