  What is OCATT?

OCATT is the abbreviation of the Catalan Transplant Organisation, which is responsible for coordinating organ donations and transplants among centres in Catalonia, and between Catalan centres and those in the rest of the Spain (through the Spanish National Transplant Organisation, ONT). OCATT is also the reference centre for all of Spain with regard to coordination with foreign transplant organisations. OCATT’s other responsibilities include promoting organ and tissue donation, following up on donation and transplantation activities and assessing the results obtained.

In light of the need to unify and provide legal support to all the activities the Catalan health administration had been carrying out in the field of organ, tissue and bone-marrow transplantation, OCATT was created by a Ministerial Order of 26 May 1994.
