2.4.2.3. Technological Innovation

The actions in this Selected Area are under the direction of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism (DICT). Many of them are described in the Innovation Plan developed and managed by CIDEM.

Objectives

• Increase the innovation capacity of Catalan industry by involving more businesses, research centres and universities in the process of generating innovation.
• Promote a culture of innovation among companies and promote innovation as the key to future competitiveness.
• Improve the interaction between industry and research groups to enable R&D activities to respond to both present and future industrial needs.
• Contribute to the development and strengthening of an efficient and sustainable technological market place, promoting the creation of technology companies, the sub-contracting of R&D activities and the transfer of technology.
• Instilling an 'entrepreneurial spirit' in students, researchers and professionals and encouraging more businesses to employ qualified researchers.
• Promote and consolidate research in energy technologies and evaluate renewable energy sources.

Encouragement of the development of high value added technological products. New materials. Biotechnological synthesis of medicines. Nanotechnologies.

Energy studies. Mapping of solar radiation in Catalonia. Modelling of the degrees per day of heating and cooling. Establish parameters for modelling and measuring energy performance in the domestic sector and in transport. Research and technological development in the energy field.
