Inter-University Council of Catalonia: objectives and lines of action

To improve access to university education:

  • To improve information and orientation with respect to students and career prospects, so that students can choose their course of study with all the necessary prior consideration.
  • To improve the transition from higher vocational education cycles to university.
  • To improve the presence of and the welcome for foreign students.

To coordinate the adaptation of Catalan universities to the European Higher Education Area:

  • To promote the involvement of the social partners in the adaptation of courses of study.
  • To provide information to the university community and to society in general concerning the process and its implications.
  • To provide support to the implementation of the ECTS methodology, emphasising the joint definition of generic authorities.

To improve the operation of the Inter-University Council based on three lines of action:

  • Improved participation of the universities in the bodies and committees of the CIC:
    • Modifications to the structure and operation of the committees in order to guarantee the involvement of universities in decision-making.
  • Improved management of the process of calling the CIC into session by the implementation of a computerised management system for the bodies and committees.
  • Improved student participation with the creation of a specific committee.
