CIRIT The Inter-Ministerial Council for Research and Technological Innovation (CIRIT), is the collegial body responsible for co-ordinating and planning Generalitat de Catalunya powers in scientific and technological innovation policy in Catalonia, in accordance with Government guidelines. It was established in 1980 as the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Research and Technological Innovation but was renamed and restructured by Decree 313/2004, of 8 June (DOGC 4151 of 10.06.2004). It was renamed the Inter-ministerial Council for Research and Technological Innovation. CIRIT continues to be headed by the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya and has three vice presidencies held by the ministers of DURSI, Employment and Industry and Health. The basic functions of CIRIT are: a) to plan, co-ordinate and assess initiatives in research and technological innovation in Catalonia, b) to draw up the proposal for the Research and Innovation Plan for Catalonia, c) to strengthen co-ordination of the different research and innovation programmes and the activities of Generalitat de Catalunya ministries and organisations, and d) to report on the suitability of the Research and Innovation Plan for Catalonia and of the research and innovation initiatives proposed by ministries. |
