The Catalan Ministry of Universities, Research and the Information Society (DURSI) aware of the growing importance of the strategic impact of the European research and development (R&D) policy, has taken a decisive step to be able to take up a leading position in Europe by creating an European and International Projects’ Service.

The European and Internacional Projects’ Service (SPEI) responds to the specific measures of the Research and Innovation Plan of Catalonia (2005-2008) to encourage the research in Catalonia for a full involvement in the European Research Area and ensure the maximisation of returns of European funds to Catalonia in terms of R&D.

The service aim is to identify and give response to the needs of the researchers and the different bodies that manage research from universities, research centres and other research institutions, by providing information, support, assessment and training activities destined to promoting and fostering their participation in European and International R&D programmes.
