Summer and extension courses

Within the framework of general education, Catalan universities offer summer courses, which serve to foster intercultural cooperation and relations..

During the summer, university students, professionals and citizens in general can take courses in many different subjects at different levels.

Universities and other educational institutions produce a list of the courses that are available on a yearly basis. To obtain information about these courses you can consult university websites or

    Published by the l'Institut Joan Lluís Vives, it contains all the courses organised by all the universities. where Catalan is spoken.

The universities also offer extension courses during the academic year for the general public. These can be professional courses, training courses or cultural interest courses. They do not require students to hold any kind of university qualification. To learn more about these courses, you can consult the website of the corresponding university.

Courses in centres that are authorised to teach courses from foreign educational systems

The centres and courses that have been authorised according to Royal Decree 557/1991 by the Ministry of Universities, Research and the Information Society, with regard to current education systems in other countries and that do not coincide with qualifications that are recognised by Spain, are listed below:

In accordance with section 19 of Royal Decree 557/91, authorisation in itself does not mean that courses that are taught in these centres will be automatically recognised in Spain. Official recognition of the corresponding qualifications will be subject to the general rules governing recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.
Other courses taught by these or other centres that are not included in this list cannot be recognised or accepted for possible official recognition in accordance with the general rules governing recognition of foreign higher education qualifications.
