University Courses
The structure of university education, which is in the process
of being developed, will foster transparency and the comparison
of the higher education provided by our universities with that
offered in other European countries and around the world. All official
university qualifications will have to be adapted to this new structure
by the 2010-2011 academic year.
Currently, the university system in Catalonia offers official
courses corresponding to the structure that has been in place until
now, and, since the 2006-2007 academic year the first master’s
degree courses adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA)
have been taught.
As of the 2008-2009 academic year, the range of courses adapted
to the European system will be extended through the implementation
of the first undergraduate courses, which will gradually replace
the courses in place until now. They will place emphasis on students
as the centre of the learning process by means of new, more active
methodology that guarantees the quality of higher education university
courses.
This section provides information on the structure of the courses
(both before and after the implementation of the European Higher
Education Area). It also presents the courses for the coming academic
year, differentiating between those of the previous system and
those adapted to the European Higher Education Area.
Additionally, the glossary provides a guide to basic university
terminology.
