The university pre-enrolment process The university pre-enrolment
process must be completed in order to be admitted to the first year of study at
any of the seven public universities of Catalonia (the
University of Barcelona, the
Autonomous University of Barcelona, the
Polytechnic University of Catalonia, Pompeu
Fabra University, the
University of Girona, the
University of Lleida, and Rovira
i Virgili University) or the
University of Vic. The University Pre-enrolment can be completed
online at http://accesnet.gencat.net The
University Pre-enrolment process is a coordinated system for distribution of university
places and ensures equal conditions for students entering the first year of
any university course - whether official courses, approved courses or non-regulated
"títols propis". This system is not used for admission
to second cycle studies. When a student completes the university pre-enrolment
process, he/she can apply for up to 8 preferences (different programmes or
centres). The order of interest must be indicated. Example: a student
who wishes to study biology could choose, as his/her first preference, the biology
programme at the University of Girona; and as a second preference, the biology
programme at the University of Barcelona, etc. or another study programme (pharmacy,
environmental sciences, or advertising and public relations, for example). Application
to the admission process is compatible with applications to private universities
and for distance learning studies or studies in other Autonomous Regions of
Spain (under the Districte Obert programme).
However, students can only enrol in one centre.
Simultaneous
studies University students can apply for simultaneous studies provided
that this is permitted by the specific regulations of each university. If such
studies are permitted, students must complete the pre-enrolment process.
Changing university to continue with the same study programme Students
who have completed the first year of study or who have acquired 60 credits of
study at a Spanish university and who wish to continue with the same study
programme at a different university must apply directly to the institution concerned
for admission and be accepted by that centre prior to completing the admissions
process. Disabled students 3% of all
places are reserved for students with a recognised degree of disability of 33%
or more, or total loss of speech or hearing, Accreditation of the degree of
disability is via the certificate of the Institut Català d'Assistència i Serveis
Socials (ICASS). Students recognised as hight-level
sportsmen and women 1% of places in any field of university education are
reserved for students recognised as high-level sportsmen and women. 5% of places
are reserved for these same students in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences and
they are exempt from taking the personal fitness test. Those considered to
be high-level sportsmen and women appear in the listings of the Consell Català
de l'Esport and Consell Superior d'Esports published in the DOGC and BOE respectively,
prior to June 15 of the current year. Accreditation is issued on presentation
of a photocopy of the corresponding DOGC or BOE. Admission
to second cycle studies For admission to second cycle studies that differ
from those completed in the first cycle, applications for admission must be directed
to the centre where the desired programme is offered: second cycle places
are not allocated via the university pre-enrolment process.
Regulations Royal
decree 69/2000, of January 21st, which regulates procedures for selection
and admission to universities for students who meet the legal requirements.
(Official State Gazette number 19, January 22, 2000 - spanish version).
Appeals Any student may make a formal appeal within the period
established for each entrance exam, even though the student has not been allocated
a place. All appeals must be accompanied by a photocopy of the application
form and a claim explaining in detail the grounds for the appeal.
