Osona is in the hinterland, in the north-east of the central Catalan depression; in the middle is the plain of Vic, through which the river Ter flows, surrounded by mountains and plateaux: the Montseny massif (SE), Guilleries (E), Collsacabra (NE), Vidranès (N) and Lluçanès (NW), which are all subdivisions of the comarca. Vic is the capital, and its market serves a remarkably wide area. Traditional farmhouses of great architectural beauty.
