The Research and Innovation Plan for Catalonia 2005-2008 was approved by the Board of the CIRIT on December 28th. 2004 and by the Catalan Government on January 25th. 2005. The research and innovation are the motive power of the economic, social and cultural progress of modern societies.
The catalan society, dynamic and open minded, still has a lot of potential to develop its research, innovation and competitivity abilities in order to become more modern and entrepreneur.
The Catalan Agreement on Research and Innovation (PNRI), signed on 21th of October 2008, foresees the lay in progress of a study of focussing-priorization (Challenge 6: To design and develop the regional strategy for specialisation in research and innovation, with the commitment that the processes and methodologies will be agreed on by the signatory agents of the PNRI), that is being carried out at present . Once it is finished, the conclusions and recommendations will be incorporated and developed in the new PRI (2009-2013). Therefore, the PRI (2005-2008) will continue until the approval of the new Plan, that will take place during 2009.
